Six short years ago, Ginger Truitt was an average Midwest housewife. As the wife of one, and mother of three, she spent most of her time homeschooling, attending church functions, and cooking for a family that insisted on eating every single day. She enjoyed a pleasant view from her kitchen window, watching corn in its various stages of growth. For several years, she had been writing a weekly newspaper column, and had also been published in church newsletters, her high school newspaper, and most notably, the Barry Manilow fan club magazine. She was content that she had fulfilled her girlhood dreams of being a mother and a writer.
But one day her husband, Nathan, made a decision that would rock their world. He quit his steady job of ten years and started his own business. Ginger stated, “It was either a giant leap of faith, or just plain stupid, but we decided to go for it!” Just for good measure, they had two more babies over the next two years, because their life simply wasn’t crazy enough.
The decision to start their own business, while risky, proved to be much more exciting than they could have imagined! Nearly all of their business contracts are international, and most of the time they return to each country 3 or 4 times per year. Suddenly, Ginger’s view changed from cornstalks, to views of the Panama Canal, the Berlin Wall, and Mt. Ararat!
While Nathan works, Ginger takes the children sightseeing, and crams as many educational and cultural opportunities as possible into each and every waking moment. They are continually exhausted, and due to their mom’s distinctly pathetic sense of direction, they frequently find themselves wandering in circles trying to find their next destination. But someday they will have amazing scrapbooks! (Not that Ginger does any scrapbooking, but she is saving all scrapbook worthy items in case the children want to start their own scrapbooking hobby someday.)
In the meantime, she is writing a book about the international adventures of a Midwest housewife. It is due to be released in December 2012! The book will tell the stories, but the pictures are here on this site. Please, stay and enjoy the view!
