Our budget is pretty tight right now, and one area I really wanted to scale back was on animal feed. I have been dropping some subtle hints to Abby that maybe it was time for her three miniature goats to find a new home since she never plays with them anymore and everyone always complains about having to feed them. Nathan and I talked about it and came up with plan. What does Abby want more than goats? A cell phone! How much will it cost to add a cell phone to our plan? $10 per month! Much cheaper than goat feed!
We made the offer and she went from, “I don’t want to get rid of my goats,” to “how soon can we find them a home?” in about thirty seconds. I listed them on a local message board and today they were picked up by a loving, wonderful couple who is starting a miniature farm. As they were hauled away Abby never batted an eye….and tomorrow we go cell phone shopping.
Now, I need to find a home for our three chickens. Then I can reclaim the garage/barn for much needed storage space, AND maybe we can get rid of the rat Nathan discovered this weekend! I have been so afraid we were going to draw a rat eventually. He and Alex flushed it out of its hole on Saturday and it went straight to the garage. I will die if it makes its way to the house. Nathan has set a trap and taken a few other measures so hopefully we will be rid of it soon.
